Sometimes it's only when a musician passes away that you realise quite how much their music means to you. I'd known that Crosby had not been in great health for a number of years though he didn't seem to have any intention of retiring from recording and playing live. But eventually I guess it all got too much for him - the spirit was willing but the body had had enough.
He leaves behind an impressive back catalogue from The Byrds and all the combinations of himself, Stephen Stills, Graham Nash and Neil Young. More recently he formed a band with his son James called CPR and at the end he was collaborating with a young group called The Lighthouse Band. I don't have so many of his recent releases so this show is mainly his music from the last century. I've included a few songs by friends of his including Stills and Young along with Terry Callier who he played with back in the early 60s and Joni Mitchell who has been a long-time friend of CSN.
Hope you enjoy my selections. Listen to the show on Mixcloud.
