Saturday's fundraiser & Barnbox Christmas Party

Many thanks to everyone who came along to the Diversity FM fundraiser open mic night at the Gregson on Saturday. We raised a total of £150. Despite the PA giving out half way through the evening we carried on unplugged and demonstrated that in a small venue you don't always need amplification if the singers have loud enough voices and people keep quiet!

Special mention should go to Nigel of The Low Countries and Marc Nellis for their help setting up and clearing up before and after the event along with Eleanor and Jess who tried to get the PA back up and running. Also thanks to all the staff and volunteers from Diversity (especially Reza and Banksy) who helped publicise the evening and who came along on the night.

I will be back on air next Tuesday after my two week break and the plan is to feature the best local music of 2011. So if there's a track you'd like to hear, please let me or Wes know.

One gig to mention is the The Barnbox Christmas Party with Stealing Sheep and Stephen Hudson & The Fiat Pandas which is taking place at the Yorkshire House in Lancaster on Sunday the 11th December. It's an early start with doors opening at 7 and the first band on at 7:30pm. Also on the bill are All We Are and The Bear Around Your Neck. Tickets are £5 on the door, £4 advance available from: http://www.wegottickets.com/event/143976
