There have been a few musician deaths recently. Jerry Lee Lewis, Nazareth singer Dan McCafferty, Boomtown Rats guitarist Garry Roberts and folk musician Rab Noakes. Rab is the only one of them I saw in concert and that was at a festival many years ago in the town of Cupar in Fife which was a local gig for him.
Various obituaries have been written about him but for me doing this radio show I'll remember him as one of the few older musicians who would thank me for playing his songs. Sometimes just getting a like on Twitter from someone you admire is enough to make you think that what you're doing is worthwhile. Anyway, it's sad that he is no longer with us so in tribute I've a few tracks by him on this show. The Lindisfarne number is a cover of one of Rab's songs from back in the early 70s.
As ever, listen on Ginger Feather FM from next Monday or any time on Mixcloud.
